B.U.I.L.D. club wins UBC Equity award

The B.U.I.L.D. club (Building Understanding of Intellectual Disabilities) is a recipient of the 2014 UBC Equity Enhancement Fund. Led by School of Kinesiology students, Rachel Brodeur, Rhiannon Evans, Kimberley Jung and Emily Ryan, the club will hold activities during the Special Olympics Canada 2014 Summer Games. The club’s objective is to promote awareness, advocacy, and knowledge of intellectual disabilities (and it’s distinction from mental illness and physical disability) to members of the UBC community.

Nancy Vered, an Equity Enhancement Fund committee member said “we funded this project as it has a broad reach to UBC students, faculty and community members.”
