We are three medical students collaborating with SOBC to organize the fourth annual Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Screening Day for those with intellectual disabilities. The health fair is a highly anticipated annual event in Vancouver that is open to all athletes with intellectual disabilities, regardless of whether they are competing in the Games. It is an event that promotes communication and education for athletes, caregivers, health professionals and even the community at large. The ultimate goal of this health fair is to support athletes with intellectual disabilities by providing a fun and safe environment to learn about health issues.

This year’s health fair will take place on February 15, 2014 at Notre Dame Regional Secondary School in Vancouver. The event will run from 9 AM to 3 PM and anyone with an intellectual disability is welcome to visit! If you are a current university student, you can also get involved by volunteering for the event.
